Forklift Motors
Purchasing a forklift is not to be taken lightly. A forklift is a large capital expenditure, and a complex equipment with a motor strong enough to execute heavy-lifting tasks. The price tag for a forklift ranges from $10,000 to $30,000, comparable to the cost of a small truck. If buying a used forklift, be certain to have it inspected for possible mechanical problems.
The two types of forklift motors are: electric or internal combustion. Forklifts with electric motors are usually more costly compared to forklifts with internal combustion motors. The motor size must suit the type of work for which the forklift would be used. A forklift with a big motor costs a lot more than a forklift with a motor which is smaller.
Propane or gasoline powered motors are normally stronger compared to electric motor and are capable of raising heavier weight. The disadvantage is that gas motors tend to develop problems more frequently than electric motors. Depending upon the price of gas or propane, gas powered forklifts can be more pricey to operate than electric powered forklifts.
