You'll notice a variety of different mechanisms which lower or raise lifts on a lift truck: scissors lifts, rack and pinion lifts, telescoping lifts, screw lifts and articulated lifts. Scissor lifts employ crisscrossed folding supports with a screw system used to draw the members together. Rack and pinion lifts utilize a pinion, that is a small drive gear, to drive a straight-toothed rack to lift the load. The telescoping lift system is designed with many parts which extend and retract out of and into each other to achieve lifting action. Screw lifts utilize threads to raise the lift. Articulated lifts use a mechanism involving multiple parts that unfold or articulate. An example of an articulated lift is the "cherry picker."
Lift truck Material Handling
In material handling processes, you'll notice numerous reasons to keep up with innovations. Material handling processes and the tools can be utilized to deal with additional SKUs, increased geographical coverage, and the requirement to lower inventories. Tools that are well ahead of the technological curve can help maximize efficiency and increase effectiveness.
Lift truck Battery & Charging Technology
The decision to convert from traditional, internal combustion lift trucks to electric lift trucks is a wise one as the latest line-ups of electric lift trucks offer longer run-times and higher capacities than ever before. Charger and battery combinations are providing more power for much longer periods than older systems were capable of accomplishing. Improvements in battery and charger technologies are not only making electric lift trucks more beneficial but they are making it possible to have more environmentally friendly warehouse operations.
These new batteries are known as Li-ion batteries or Lithium-Ion batteries. This technology is still somewhat new, however Li-ion batteries show incredible promise. They are not only smaller but can hold up to six times the charge of traditional lead acid batteries. Li-ion batteries have very low maintenance requirements and are able to maximize opportunity charging through zero memory technology.
