Forklift trucks are essential pieces of equipment used widely in business, specially in warehouses, distribution centers, storage handling and industrial plants. A lift truck is constructed of hundreds of parts, like the cab, the carriage, the power source, the wheels and the engine. Lift trucks normally have different types of attachments also. Forklift Engine - At the rear of the equipment, the lift truck has its power source. The different kinds of engine on the lift truck would require varying power sources. Like for example, a lift truck with an internal combustion engine could have any of the following as its source of power: diesel, gasoline, CNG gas or LP gas. Electric motor forklifts receive their power from a battery or fuel cells.
Frame of The Truck - the base of the forklift truck and the most important of all the forklift components is the truck frame. This forms the equipment's core. All other forklift components are attached to the base, like for example the mast, wheels, axles overhead guard and counterweight. Fuel and hydraulic fluid tanks may also be part of the frame assembly.
Counterweight Lift Truck Parts - While carrying heavy loads, the counterweight allows the equipment to be balanced. This specific part is cast iron and comes connected to the back of the forklift. The counterbalance balances the frame of the truck to prevent it from tipping over when a load is being lifted or carried on the front. In an electric forklift, the heavy lead-acid battery gives balance and can work as part of the counterweight.
The Cab Area - this part is where the operator sits and drives the machine. Some lift trucks have a cab area which is open to the air and several have closed cabs. There are really lots of components situated within the cab for operating the forks. The cab contains such essential components like the steering wheel, operator controls, pedals, seats, switches and levers. The dashboard has operator readouts.
