Reach Truck
To be able to keep storage areas tidy and to stock up supplies and pallets of goods, a reach truck can be used. The reach truck comes in several types: the double-deep reach, straddle reach and the stand-up reach.
The stand-up is the most basic. The truck forks slide underneath the pallet and move it to the appropriate storage place. The forks slide the pallet into place. This kind of reach truck is recommended when shelving units are one pallet deep.
Best for workplaces where the shelving units are deep enough to accommodate two pallets of goods, the double-deep reach truck, that is similar to the stand-up, is usually used. This particular model has telescopic forks designed to position the pallet at the rear of the shelving unit. This eliminates the need to push the pallet back when one more pallet must go into the same shelving section.
Straddle reaches have the additional advantage of being able to not just slide under the pallet, but also to grasp the sides. These are suitable for workplaces where shelving units can be accessed in multiple directions. This model is best in situations where goods would not be damaged if the pallet sides are grabbed.
Inside the majority of warehouses, there are usually more than one type of reach truck. Textile firms and manufacturing facilities utilize various kinds of reach trucks in their supply areas. The reach truck is not hard to use and can increase productivity while making the most of available storage space.
