Forklift Classifications
Below are the classes of forklifts that describe the use and fuel choice of each kind of forklift. Certification is required for each class of forklift that the operator would be utilizing.

Class 1 - Electric Motor Rider Trucks
These forklifts come with either cushion or pneumatic tires. Pneumatic tires are suggested for outdoor application in dry conditions. The models with cushion tires are designed for indoor surfaces that are smooth. These are electrically powered vehicles which utilize industrial batteries, which make them suitable inside closed environments where air quality is an issue. Hoist functions and travel are controlled by transistor motor controllers. These are versatile units commonly utilized everywhere from the loading dock to the storage facility.

Class 2 - Electric Motor Narrow Aisle Trucks
This particular forklift is recommended for locations where narrow aisles have to be negotiated. They are efficient at making the most of storage space. Their unique design makes them ideal where speed is needed and for small spaces.

Class 3 - Electric Motor Hand or Hand-Rider Trucks
These hand-controlled, battery-powered models are intended for the operator to stand in front of the truck and operate the lift with a steering tiller. The tiller has controls mounted on top and is moved laterally to steer the vehicle. The smaller capacity units utilize industrial batteries.
