Types of Hydraulic Cranes
Amongst the most common cranes in the construction industry is hydraulic cranes. They are utilized to make everything from skyscrapers and buildings to roadways and freeway overpasses.
There is a large variety of crane models, styles and sizes available on the market. There are many different types in order to serve a variety of different reasons in the business. Choosing the best type of crane is very essential for making sure that the material could be efficiently and safely transported to the location it has to get to in order for the construction process to commence.
Truck Cranes
Truck cranes would typically have 2 different cabs. One cab is used to drive the truck unit when in transport mode, whilst the other is for controlling the crane. These cranes are very helpful for building sites where a crane is needed in numerous different locations for the duration of the build. This is due to the fact that the crane can be driven easily from one place to another.
In addition, the cranes can be transported to different construction locations on the road because they can drive themselves and this eliminates the need for extra transport vehicles. Being able to travel on their own really reduces transport expenses at the end of the day.
The truck crane on the other hand is not stable enough to handle all the major loads that a hydraulic crane could handle. Therefore, to be able to fix this issue, outriggers can be extended from the deck. The outriggers utilize hydraulic pressure to be able to slightly lift the truck off of the ground, making it balanced and stable.
Crawler-Mounted Cranes
Crawler cranes feature large tracks on the bottom of the crane. These huge tracks are like the ones seen on other construction machinery such as bulldozers and backhoes. The tracks allow the crane to move around a construction site successfully.
